The architecture of India has seen many reformations owing to the influences that came its way throughout its journey. The architecture is rooted in its history, religion, region and culture. As and when the culture got mixed, the influence on construction and designing started to show on the creations.
Though each state in India represents a distinct identity of its own, its the architecture, art and culture that reveals the beauty of this culturally so diverse country.
Right starting from the Mughal period to the British rule, the monuments that were built during respective era’s can easily be distinguished from one another.

- The Sanchi Stupa, Sanchi
This is the oldest stone carved monument in India. Built by Ashoka with the relics of Buddha, this monument dates back by 3rd Century BC.
- The Red Fort, New Delhi
Built by the Mughals, this gigantic building was home to the Mughals for over 2 centuries. Even today it is considered an iconic monument and represents beauty of Islamic and Mughal architecture. The red fort is considered as a landmark of India’s beauty.
- Victoria Memorial, Kolkata
Victoria Memorial in Kolkatta was built by the British in memory of Queen Elizabeth during the year 1906- 1921. The construction highlights the British art and designing.
- Taj Mahal, Agra
Talking about architecture and missing out on Taj Mahal is a rare possibility. This magnificent building is crafted in white marble with fine detailing and finesse. The Taj Mahal has become a national identity for Indian as it is included in the 7 wonders of the world list. It incorporates the design and traditions of the Persian and Mughal construction.
- Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Pondicherry
Situated in Pondicherry, this church is one of the most iconic monuments depicting French and gothic architecture influence on Indian . It portrays events from the life of Christ and saints of the Catholic Church.
- Basilica of Bom Jesus, Goa
The Basilica of Bom Jesus located in Goa, is one of the finest examples of baroque architecture in India. The monument depicts Portuguese art and architecture at its best.
